MODULE 04 — AGENTIC AI · 15 AI Concepts

Multi-agent systems

One agent given several roles, several desks, and a postal service between them. There is no second intelligence — only more copies of the same one.

Messages0 Model calls0 Desks in play1

The problem it solves

One desk, too many jobs

ONE AGENT, ONE DESK sources, drafts and critiques all mixed re-read in full, every single turn THREE ROLES, THREE DESKS sources only draft only checks only each role re-reads only what it needs smaller desks · sharper instructions

How it works

Split, specialise, reconcile

one goal find write check
SplitA coordinator writes sub-tasks — which is, again, just writing text.
“you find sources, nothing else” “you draft, using only these” “you check claims against sources”
SpecialiseSame model each time. The “specialist” is one line of instruction.
one answer disagreement resolved by… the model
ReconcileWhen two roles disagree, the coordinator decides — with no better access to truth.

Before you build one

What splitting actually costs

FOR THE SAME TASK one agent 6 model calls four roles 24 model calls · plus the handoffs illustrative — the shape is what matters, not the numbers And every handoff is a fresh desk that only gets what the last role remembered to write down. Reach for one agent with good tools first. Split only when the roles genuinely need different instructions.

So what

Five agents is not five minds. It is one model, roleplaying a meeting, and paying for every seat.
